An 1887 Cycling Sketchbook

Page 13: W.B.C. Round the Mersey Tour: 30th April & 1st May 1887

On this first day the Duttons started by crossing the Mersey by ferry to Birkenhead. On the first dayThe Wirral Bicycle Club, presumably starting Saturday afternoon, rode down the Wirral peninsula to Chester.

Five cyclists start for Chester

The fast division diverge to take down a few cyclists

Arthur's chain breaks. He uses his feet as a brake

They find a blacksmith to do repairs but in the end mend the chain themselves

The old uns on the tandem romp away from 2 tricyclists/

Mashing a Chester dog

After tea, things we saw at night - billiards, a soldier and a dog
