Porthmadog - Welsh Highland Railway Crossing National Cycle Route 8
Following the extension of the Welsh Highland Railway through Snowdonia, we are receiving reports of cyclists encountering difficulties using the tramway crossing at Porthmadog. Anyone who does fall and hurts themselves on any level crossing should get this properly reported as a 'dangerous occurrence', through the HSE RIDDOR process, with the operator of the level crossing. There is a 24 hour reporting number for all Network Rail which can be used to get trains alerted in an emergency: it is 08457 11 41 41
We will keep you posted of developments. In the meantime here are three photos to give you and idea of what it's all about. If any of our visitors are aware of such rail crossings elsewhere, where a different solution has been employed, we'd be pleased to hear from them.
