NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2007

Sunday July 8th On a cold & cloudy day Chris & Mike lead the ride from Waunfawr, travelling to Caernarfon via Rhyd Ddu, the Nantlle Valley & the beach road. We visited Plas Menai to look for lost gloves, then back via Bethel & Ceunant: 35 miles & five out

Sunday 5th August A joint ride with the North Wales Tandem Club: we met at Pentrefoelas & rode on to the Denbigh moors through forests & by lakes, an enjoyable pub lunch at Cyffylliog, On the way back we stopped for a welcome cuppa at Becky & Mark's new home. Though there were short delays for four punctures we enjoyed lovely weather. Two solos & four tandems out.

Sunday 16th September: Alwena & three others enjoyed a ride on Anglesey.

Sunday 11th November: Six riders set off from Criccieth for Doreen's birthday ride; after stopping for coffee at Beddgelert we met thirteen other members & friends at Ty Mawr café Rhyd Ddu; after an enjoyable lunch the six rode back via Lon Eifion : 34miles

The Sunday runs have been hit badly this year by the bad weather

Chris & Mike Simpkins have attended the Graham Mills memorial ride & also the DA President's ride

Arwel & Jerry rode the Flintshire 50 from Mold on 7th October

There have been other rides during the summer, when the weather looked good, arranged by a system of emails & phone calls

Several changes were made at the AGM on 8th November. It was decided to change the venue for the monthly meetings; we will try a different pub in the Groeslon, Landwrog, Llanwnda area each month till we decide which one we like best Look at the attached runs list for where the meeting is to be. It was decided to go back to meeting on THE FIRST THURSDAY of the month instead of the second. The December meeting will still be the second Thursday 13th December 8pm.

We also decided to try midweek rides: we will meet at Inigo Jones slate works on alternate Tuesdays at 10am, starting on the 15th January. Decide where to go on the day. These dates will also be on the attached runs list

Mike & Chris have worked hard to get the runs list up to date: there are still one or two gaps that need filling, please volunteer to lead a ride, there will be others with you to make sure you don’t get lost.

If the weather is doubtful PLEASE ring the leader to make sure that the run will go ahead

Our good wishes go to Mike Simpkins who has had his other hip operated on; we wish him a speedy recovery & hopefully will see him on the bike in December

Barry has had heart surgery & is making a good recovery, we look forward to seeing him out on the bike in the New Year

The next ride is on the 25th November , meeting at Trawsfynedd destination Penrhos Bothy approx 30 miles leader Luke 07887 895692 Hope to see you there.

The Christmas ride which starts at Penygroes at 10am 16th December is going to the Russell café at the Welsh Highland Railway (opposite the main station ) Porthmadog: soup, crusty roll or sandwiches & mince pies etc will be served. If you cannot make the ride please come for the lunch , all welcome

Here's hoping that you all have a lovely Christmas & that we can manage lots of miles in good weather in 2008.

Doreen
